Upgrades Begin at the Pond

When the pond was first added to Wabash Park in 2021, we knew it would bring something special to the grounds. What we didn’t fully realize was just how quickly it would become part of camp life.

Over the past few years, the pond has quietly become one of the most loved and utilized places on the property. Boat races, raft floating, and, of course... fishing!

But more importantly, it’s become a backdrop for prayer and reflection, and for several campers and guests, it’s been the place where they stepped into the water to be baptized.

Tucked beside the RV and tent camping area, the pond brings a peaceful rhythm to that corner of the grounds. It’s a small feature—but one that has already become a meaningful part of camp life.

So What’s Next?
This year, several improvements are scheduled to solidify the pond as a safe and lasting part of Wabash Park. These upgrades—funded through thePhase II  Lilly Endowment Inc. Youth Camp Initiative—will help us better care for both the space and the campers who enjoy it.

Upcoming projects include:

Permanent Floating Docks
Stable floating docks will add beauty and create safer spots for fishing, launching paddle boats, or simply sitting by the water.

New Paddle Boats
Four additional paddle boats so more campers can enjoy the water together, making room for even more laughter and shared adventure.

Dedicated Storage
A new storage building for life jackets, fishing poles, and other equipment to be kept organized and protected, helping our team manage the growing number of activities around the pond.

By installing stable docks, organizing gear, and improving safety around the pond, we’re supporting a space that has quickly become an important part of camp life.

Looking Ahead
Work on the pond upgrades is scheduled to begin this month! With everything ready for the start of the Summer 2026 camp season.

We’re excited to see how this small but meaningful part of the grounds continues to grow—welcoming laughter, reflection, and the many ways God meets people in His creation.
